Rural Housing

Living in the countryside is not a lifestyle choice for many people it is an economic necessity and a way of life that has been passed down from generation to generation.
And in many counties where farming is a main source of income up to 50% of the population lives in rural housing.
One of the big problems facing families in these areas is the availability of affordable housing. Youngsters and the elderly are often in need of rural housing in areas where their families live and it is the lack of affordable housing in these locations and sectors that has led to the setting up of several rural housing organisations that are specifically there to tackle the affordable housing problems faced by rural communities.
These rural housing organisations will build affordable housing for low income tenants designed to meet the needs of residents from the local community unable to afford suitable accommodation on the open-market. The rural housing is usually a mixture of rented and shared ownership affordable housing to preserve the stock. Rural Housing Associations usually ask for prospective buyers or tenants to be able to show a local connection in the form of employment or close family.
